North Canton Elementary Musicians Show Holiday Spirit
By Traci Langfitt
The North Canton elementary schools’ musicians were busy putting the final touches on their songs, dances, and costumes during the month of December. Everyone had been working since September to learn the music and dances. It was finally curtain time!
The Orchard Hill fifth grade classes displayed the Sights and Sounds of the Season through their music and movement. A parachute dance was performed to the song “Sleigh Ride,” a square dance to “Jingle Bells,” and a candy cane dance to the song titled “Candy Canes.” The fifth graders also played their recorders, a wind instrument, to the song “Conga Bells.” The fifth grade choir, band, and orchestra entertained, along with student pianists. Tickling the ivory were fifth graders Kelly Barrett, Caroline Langfitt, Celia Martin, Klaire Vandergrift, and Ben Weitzel.
The Clearmount third grade performed The Grinch Who Stole Christmas with lively singing and dancing and wonderful costumes. The Grinch was brilliantly portrayed by third grader Nic Castle with his painted green face down to the Grinch slippers on his feet! Little Cindy Lou Who was beautifully portrayed by third grader Madison Breley. Madison’s long, blond hair and soft, high-pitched voice matched Little Cindy Lou perfectly! The Clearmount fourth and fifth grade choir, band, and orchestra entertained the audience with charming holiday medleys.
